Abstract

This article aims at examining, based on teachers' representations, characteristics of teaching work in its relation with objects that are constitutive of them. So, we seek to answer the question: what characteristics do teachers attribute to their work in representations about Professional Qualification Course?  Thus, we carried out a qualitative-interpretivist research (Flick, 2004) which is also a case study (Leffa, 2006), as we investigated two collaborators in a particular environment.  The research context is a Professional Qualification course and the collaborators are teachers of the subjects that make up the course's Complementary Training. To generate the data, we carried out semi-structured interviews with each teacher.  When teaching the course, the teachers aims to prepare students for professional practice and, to this end, they consider the prescriptions, demands of the job market and the location where the course is located. All of these factors influence teaching choices in the classroom.
