Abstract

The article Democratic management, participation and autonomy from the perspective of the councilors: Municipal Council of Education - Itapetininga - SP, aims to analyze the conceptions of the councilors of the CME, based on the actions in the municipality and the relationship with the executive power. The article is part of the research at the Doctorate level, defended in 2021, at the Federal University of São Carlos, Sorocaba/SP campus, Municipal Council of Education of Itapetininga/SP: approaches to democratic management, participation and autonomy. It is developed through qualitative research, carrying out bibliographic, theoretical and legal studies, and interviews with the counselors of the CME of Itapetininga, with questions related to democratic management, participation and autonomy. From the analysis of the perceptions and aspirations of the interviewed board members, it can be inferred that there are initiatives to improve democratic management in their actions, however, it is necessary to invest in training processes for the board members, so that they understand their role with the CME.
