Abstract

The school experience provides adolescents with a series of experiences related to socialization, discipline, and academic knowledge, especially in adolescence when life projects begin to gain more consistency. In this study, it was analyzed how school failure impacted the establishment of life projects by adolescents considering the Bioecological Theory of Human Development as a form of data analysis. The greatest impacts reported were delays and greater difficulty in carrying out life projects. Even experiencing the delay caused by failure, students still reported plans to enter Higher Education, pursue a military career or immediately enter the job market, showing the constancy of biopsychosocial characteristics even in the face of a disruptive event such as school failure. Approved students also showed interest in joining the university, however, their choices were less ambitious as they sought less competitive courses.
