Abstract

This article aims to reflect on curricular practices in the schooling process in the Wassu-Cocal ethnoterritory, based on research conducted in 2022/2023. Given the scope of the research, data from two indigenous schools are discussed regarding the relevance of ethnic practices for identity construction. Methodologically, the research is guided by a qualitative-interpretative approach, based on multiple case studies, seeking to construct arguments and problematizations in order to understand the legal pathways for the implementation of Indigenous School Education in the ethnic community studied. The aforementioned theme implies considering and acknowledging the advances and setbacks in Indigenous education in Alagoas, as well as the epistemologies practiced, other pedagogical knowledge, and cosmologies that form the basis of praxis in Indigenous school education. Based on the data collected, we highlight that the constructed curricula follow multiple narratives, valuing silenced histories that are subverted, (re)elaborating counter-hegemonic identities and subjectivities.
