Abstract

School-based sexuality education is marked by discursive disputes that produce silences and restrictions regarding sexualities within educational settings, undermining practices aimed at comprehensive protection, the guarantee of rights, and the prevention of sexual violence. In this context, the study analyzes, from a Foucauldian discursive perspective, how Brazilian educational curricula participate in processes of subjectivation within school-based sexuality education. The corpus of discursive analysis comprises the Brazilian National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC), the São Paulo State Curriculum (CP), and the Municipal Education Plan (PME) of Araraquara, São Paulo. The analysis reveals silences and predominantly biologizing approaches to sexuality, limiting critical and emancipatory educational practices. The study proposes understanding school-based sexuality education beyond a strategy for violence prevention, conceiving it as an educational practice guided by an ethics of existence and a culture of care of the self, constitutive of processes of schooling, subjectivation, and subject formation.
