Abstract

This work aims to develop reflections on the challenges of inclusion, education, and sexuality based on the film The Way He Looks (2014). The film, directed by Daniel Ribeiro, follows Leonardo, a blind teenager who seeks independence and self-knowledge. The narrative highlights themes such as visual impairment, accessibility, and sexual diversity, while also addressing the challenges of social inclusion. The work received important awards, such as the Teddy and the Fipresci, and became a landmark in Brazilian LGBTQIAP+ cinema. The relationship between disability and sexuality is also explored in academic studies, which point to the need for greater access to information. Furthermore, the educational and social inclusion of people with disabilities is supported by legislation such as the Brazilian Inclusion Law (2015), which guarantees equal opportunities. The film reflects on the role of education in civic formation and in building a more inclusive society.
