Abstract

This article aims to discuss, from the review of specialized literature, historical initiatives to finance science and technology. Baiardi (1996) observes that although there are many approaches that seek to explain the history of scientific development and its support, none assumes a privileged position of dominance, sometimes because some emphasize human creativity to the detriment of real conditions of production, sometimes because they fail to consider other fundamental elements that require an overview and not of conceptual particularization. This work expands some clippings for the university's reflection and its responsibility in scientific production, which will require planned and consistent forms of funding.
